Here's what Clients are saying about TM Custom Portraits!
I am thrilled with those pictures... and that is an understatement. I spent the better part of the day last week emailing and calling my family to look at your proofs/website. Thanks Tara, I have nothing but a glowing report to refer to my friends. Sincerely, Stacey.
Good job! Thank you so much Tara! Thanks again for all the wonderful pictures, hope we will do the same next year. Jenny
Those look great. I love your work. Thank you. I will be anxious to get the CD so I can take a closer look and get some prints!! The family photos turned out great and I wasn't even planning on that. Wow, now we have Christmas cards. :o) Thanks, Cindy
What to Expect
Often I have clients ask me what sort of things they can expect when they come to me for a portrait session. To help you, I have created this list of the more frequently asked questions I recieve to help you get the most out of the time we have during your shoot.
Q: Who needs to come to our session?
A: I ask my clients to please bring anyone who is going to be photographed to our session. For sessions where we will be photographing 1 child, I find it works best to have just 1 parent at the shoot.
Q: Where will our session take place?
A: I have found that the best locations for sessions are either at your home, or at an outdoor location like a park or great old building. It helps children to be relaxed and spontaneous when they are at their own home. I also find that kids love to explore outdoors and I am able to really capture them being themselves. I have a list of wonderful locations in the Portland/Vancouver area that work wonderfully for sessions, or I am open to clients suggestions of where they would like to go. Try looking through my gallery and focus on which images are your favorites, let me know which ones you like and I can help guide you to a location that will fit with your style.
Q: What if my child is sick on the day of the session?
A: I have 3 kids of my own, so I know that sickness is a fact of life sometimes! I will be more than happy to reschedule your session if your child is under the weather. It's much harder to get happy, beautiful images of a miserable sick child. If they have a minor bump or bruise your concerned about, talk to me, since most of these issues can be retouched at no extra charge.
Q: When I book my session, how can I make payment?
A: You may pay your session deposit by mailing a check, or by debit or credit card over the phone. Your $100 session deposit must be paid in order to hold your session time slot. The remainder of your package price is due the day of your session.
Q: What clothing do you recommend?
A: I find that it's best for clients to look at image that they are drawn to and study what the subject is wearing. If you tend to prefer the look of classic clothing choices then jeans or khakis with a solid colored shirt should be a good choice for you. If you are drawn more toward the more trendy bright colors or whimsical clothing choices then that will probably give you the end result you'll love. When photographing subjects in their own home I like to look through your child's clothing and pull out choices that I think will photograph well. I will also discuss this over the phone before our session takes place.
Q: What are the best ages to photograph my child?
A: I personally don't feel that there is any exact age that you have to wait for to photograph a baby or child. Newborns however are best photographed between 5-14 days, since at that stage they are usually very sleepy and pliable which enables me to capture the type of newborn shots you see on my site. It also helps to reduce the chance that your infant will have lots of baby acne. I also encourage parents to have custom portraits taken of their school age children. This is a time of so much change in a child's life and I feel that it is important to have beautiful images of children at this age as well as when they are infants and toddlers.
